On July 8th and August 19th, in collaboration with Lancers’ New Work Style LAB, we held two sessions of the event:
"Intercultural Exchange – Make Friends from Abroad in Tokyo – Supported by POCKETALK."
The community of the New Work Style LAB Researcher Program, which experiments with new ways of working, hosted a project with the concept, "Instead of learning, get used to it! If you enjoy interacting with foreign languages, will your language skills improve naturally? Will you be able to gain overseas work without feeling pressured?" (As of August 2024).
Participants in this experimental project were matched with digital nomads at S-TOKYO who were eager to learn more about Japan. Over 60 people attended the two sessions!
With the support of the POCKETALK instant translation device, even those with no prior experience with foreign languages could enjoy the exchange.
It was a wonderful event where we transcended language barriers, meeting and laughing with people from diverse backgrounds. :)
Event Overview
Even if you’re only familiar with Japanese, don’t worry! If you’re interested in foreign cultures or languages, this event is for you!
At S-TOKYO, a hub for nomads living and traveling the world (located in Kodemmacho, Tokyo), we’re hosting an intercultural exchange event designed for those who aren't confident in their foreign language skills. The international participants are all people who are interested in Japan. There will also be Japanese attendees who speak foreign languages, so even if you can’t speak any foreign languages, you can join with confidence. If you’re looking to make friends from abroad or want to connect with other Japanese people interested in the world, don’t miss this opportunity!
Supported by POCKETALK – Feel Even More at Ease, Even If You Only Speak Japanese!
This time, we’re also supported by the POCKETALK instant translation device! Many Japanese participants will have POCKETALK devices at the venue, so if you want to give it a try, feel free to ask!
