Hello, I am Yuka, S-TOKYO Community Curator.
Nihonbashi Kodenmacho, where S-TOKYO is located, has so many attractive features that we can't tell you enough about it!
We interviewed local residents to share such a wonderful neighborhood community with those who are interested in S-TOKYO.
We will introduce them in several articles, so please enjoy them!
This time, we interviewed Roonee247finrarts, a lovely gallery near S-TOKYO!
Roonee247finearts
-What is the story of your business and its concept?
Roonee opened in 2004 in Yotsuya, Shinjuku as a gallery dealing mainly with photography.
In January 2017, the gallery relocated from Shinjuku to the Nihonbashi Kodenmacho/Bakurocho area, and will reopen as a gallery that handles a variety of artists' works, expanding the range of genres it handles while focusing on photography.
We hope to be a place that offers you the comfort of living surrounded by photography and art 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the joy of viewing, creating, and owning art.
-How do you feel about the attractive features and characteristics of Nihonbashi Kodenmacho?
"A soft integration of history and newcomers". A fun town for those familiar with the area.
-For future visitors, what are your recommendations for the area and stores (cultural experiences, community events, etc...)?
The area is rich in galleries that deal with a variety of genres. Many of them are also available for visitors from overseas. Please come and visit us!
-For the upcoming event in the gallery?
We are pleased to announce a special exhibition by Go Narisawa.
We have been thinking about how we should accept the great overflowing works of his.
We decided to bring together all of Go Narisawa's works in one place, and to enjoy the fascination of this artist.
All of the series are said to be in progress and being produced at the same time.
(The following are the words of Mr. Go Narisawa in regards to the medley exhibition.)
When there is one thing that you truly want to tell,
one series that you want to create with all your heart.
For that, I will do it in that way,
For this, I will do it in this way
Luckily or unfortunately, I am shy, and yet, I am always like that, endlessly like a spring.
Creating a variety of things is a result of trying to communicate each of them correctly.
It sounds like a joke, but it is true.

Kanako-san from Roonee is always greets me with a sunshine smile when I run into her on the street.
"A soft integration of history and newcomers." is a phrase that describes Kanako-san very well!
She knows so many deep spots in Tokyo that you want to secretly tell someone about, and it is so much fun to visit more places every time you talk to her! I am very much looking forward to visiting Roonee, which has evolved even further after the gallery's renovation.
Please come visit the gallery and see the very nice exhibitions!
Thank you very much for your cooperation in this interview!
